Here is mine (not a good photo). I seem to remember a discussion on this forum about the size of the letters being a sign used to decide whether this was good or not....Maybe if you do a search something will come up.

I'm in the camp that thinks the tall letters are the correct badges. Examining carefully detail and design of badge seems to suggest to me the tall letter badges are simply more convincing. I don't think pin and catch will give the answer here. What are the tall letter silver REDOs all apparently a little 'worn' and the others a different finish? For me, tall letters.

For whatever it's worth, Angolia in his Political and Civil Awards of the 3rd Reich on page 239 shows the SA Sport Badge by REDO with the TALL letters.

And, Detlev shows the short letters on his badge on page 340 of his Bewertungs-Katalog.

So, Angolia says tall and Detlev says short.
How can we come up with a final word? Can Detlev give us any commenst?

I did find this useful info;

Instituted by SA-Stabchef Ernst Röhm in 1933 and was awarded only to SA and SS members and awarded in bronze only.

The 1934-1935 versions changed with the addition the inscription on the reverse “Eigentum des Chefs des Ausbildungswesens” (Property of the Head of Physical Conditioning).

In February 1935, silver and gold classes were adopted as degrees of proficiency and were opened up to the public.

From 1935 to 1939 the badge bore the inscription “Eigentum der SA-Sportsabzeichen-Haupstelle (Property of the SA Sports Badge Head Department).

In January 1939 the name of the badge was changed to “SA-WEHRABZEICHEN” (SA-Military Defence Badge). From 1939 to 1944 the reverse side to the badge bore the inscription “Eigentum der Obersten SA-Führung.”

In September 1939, the use of serial numbers was discontinued.

Well all the badges pictured have the "SA Fuhrung" bit in the inscription for post 1939. So, since there is a mixture of short and tall letters, we cannot use that to say that short letters were for one period and tall letters for another.
Anymore thoughts?

SA sports badges are magnetic as far as I know of with the exception of the ones for the war wounded which are all zinc.
