    Nurnberg 1929 Parteitag

    Hi there,

We recently purchased a very large collection of military items at an estate auction & among the items are several German political & military medals & pins, including a 1929 NSDAP Parteitag. We have learned a lot about the items through research, but we have almost no experience with German military/political items & could use some help with a couple pieces in determining whether they are originals or reproductions.

The 1929 NSDAP Parteitag is a shield-shaped, stamped metal badge with a silver wash. It measures about 1-29/32" tall x about 13/16" wide & features the image of an eagle atop an M16 helmet, which has a wreathed static swastika on the front. It has "1914" to the left of the eagle, "1919 N.S.D.A.P." to the right & "Partei Tag 1929" below the helmet. A bar on top of the shield reads, "Nurnberg" & above that is a representation of a castle. Most of the silver wash is worn off both sides of the badge & what is left has dulled with age. Pinback is in good working order & is attached with a round piece of metal that is stamped, "Hoffstatter Bonn" & "GES, Geschutzt". I have posted images/links of the front & back of the pin below.

Any information, opinions or comments regarding the age, authenticity, value, etc. of the piece will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time,
    Denise

Very nice MM badge. This is the early one sold at the Rally before it became an Honor award. Nice find!

I don't consider this badge a tinnie due to it being elevated to Honor award status. JMO.

Well, both are right. It was made just like a tinnie. Consideration as national award came several years later.

Thanks to all for your comments. I'm glad you all like this one. I posted a pilot badge from the same collection in the Luftwaffe Badges forum & it didn't fair so well... it's a fake. Guess you can't win 'em all. Thanks again.
