    NSDAP Decorations

    Greetings all

Over on the Uniforms Forum, Yancy asked if anyone else collected NSDAP items, well I do, and I thought I would start the ball rolling by sharing something with everyone. Here is a near mint NSDAP 15 Year Service Cross. Early war construction, front section is slightly bent, this is hardly visible from the photos.
Would love to see what other collectors have in their collection.

Secondly here is an NSDAP Party armband. No RZM tag and it is slightly torn on the reverse. Correct three-piece construction with stitching on both sides. It did not go though the scanner as well as I had hoped.

Finally here is a lowly party badge, pre or early war type. I am not exactly sure when, but sometime during the war they stopped enamelling these things and switched to painting them. As a result quality dropped dramatically. Millions of these things were produced in all manner of attachment, size and detail. By 1945 there was nearly nine million members in the party, so that gives you a small indication of how many of these little things were made.

        Dez,
Good idea. I'll post some pics tomorrow of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class with the story behind them.
        Battery went dead on camera.
I consider the 2nd Class NSDAP one of the prettiest and I was lucky enough to obtain a boxed mint one also.

          Dez,

I do not own a second class NSDAP, but have handled some. I am sorry to say that I have some negative thoughts:

          -the swastika is misshaped
-the beading on the frame seems to be blurry in some places
-the colour of the blue enamel is not right (scan?). It should be brighter, not "midnight blue".
          -enamel seems not "clean" enough

          Cheers, Frank

Frank has some very good points., Unfortunately, Souval produced a large number of reproduction 2nd class NSDAP medals and all are like the one you posted.

And I have my doubts about the party pin, based on the "Fake D. A. P. Pin" thread over on GermanDaggers.com. It's in the "Medals and Badges" section. Check it out.
In the meantime, here are a couple of my NSDAP awards, two Golden Party Badges. (I've posted these here before, but they're worth a second look.)

I'll post a few more party items later.

I think that the NSDAP Cross is a reproduction. There are two types of this, a heavy and light constructed cross.

I also have NSDAP decorations. But aren't we taking the subject matter of this forum from the military to the political if we discuss this stuff here? After all, we are called "Wehrmacht" Awards. My opinion is that there should be a separation.

I'll start with the boxed 2nd class which is the only one I paid for. Notice the blue enamel. I'm trying to make out the mark on the ring.

Yuri- your are most correct maybe there should be a forum on polictical decorations ?!?!?!

Later I'll post the 1st and 3rd class medals which don't seem right to me and the reasons why but what do I know. Anyway I didn't pay anything for them.

                      NSDAP badges/pins (and Yuri)

                      Yuri,

I expressed the same concern here a few weeks ago and everybody said it was okay to post party stuff here. So.... until they set up a separate section for NSDAP items, here are:

                      A 1929 Party Day Badge

A 1933 Gau Munchen Badge (Blood Order precursor)

                      And, a standard party pin

I've posted a poll down in Kneipe just to see how many people actually collect what. You CAN vote on more than one area, so click off everything you actually collect. The categories are VERY broad. Let's try narrowing down to specifics later on.

Gentlemen, my second-class medal is quite lighter than it appears in these photos. The actually finish looks very similar to the one cmagnifico posted. Which I must add is a real mintey. I will try and take some more photos with the auto exposure off. The front section of the medal is quite bent, the round piece that swastika and eagle rest on, I would say it is out my nearly 8mm, this could also lead to distortion. Medal is also quite heavy. I have checked the ring and there is no makers mark.

                            SEPARATE FORUM?

For as long as I have been a member ALL Third Reich Awards have been discussed on this forum. I personally see no need for a separate forum for Civil and Political, but would not object to see one established. It seems to me like it might entail more work for the administrators. Where do we classify the personal awards like diamond badges of the Kreigsmarine and Luftwaffe?

                              Here's a coupla knick-knacks

Look at the attachment on the reverse of the larger party badge. it differs a bit from the others that have been shown. Opinions?
