Hello All... I fouled up the first attempt to get this posted. I've never seen one of these in silver so I'm wondering if the gold wash has simply worn off or have I managed to find yet another reproduction? Even the pin looks like it still has retained some silver plating. "Manage Attachments" is only letting me post one photograph at a time. I will try to post a picture of the back of the badge, as well.

NSDAP Nurnberg 1933 Badge in Silver?

There are various schools of thougth on silver versions of this badge. The one's that are considered as potentially original have a 1000 at the base near the catch. Some believe this to be a mark indicating silver content, but I believe it may mean something else as this would be the only incident that pure silver (which would be too soft to be practical for a badge) is not labeled as .999. The pin on this one also is unusual and resembles one found on the Todt awards. I've neve seen this type pin set up on these badges before. The detail is also lacking in comparison to the others I've seen in silver and seem soft as they might if they were cast. I wouldn't feel comfortable with this badge. Here is a link to another discussion with one that is generally accepted as original (though I still think the 1000 has some other significance than the silver purity).
