    Affordable 30.5mm GPB?

    Hello
I'm new to the forum so I hope I don't cause annoyance by creating a new thread, but I have a real need for some good info!

I am putting together a grouping for Heydrich I already have a mix of original and highest quality repro items for his insignia and most of his various awards and ribbon bar. However I am lacking the crucial 30.5mm golden party badge!

I could only budget of around £500 so I'm wondering what this money could get me? I'd be satisfied with a high quality repro if it was 'made to fool' and only had a few small errors - if it was suitably aged and fire gilded, or I'm wondering whether a smaller 24mm Dechsler might be a better option?

Basically any help, pointers, advice, links or offers of any kind are so very welcome, as I am far from expert in this area.

    Many thanks,
    Simon

£500 for a repro! the advice i would give you is, save your money
a repro will always be a repro. And imo worthless whether it,s worth
£5 or £500 better to have original, or nothing at all.

Good advice, but if you are determined to buy a fake, they are all over the internet (some even being sold as fakes ).

If you want a good quality fake sold as a fake, you can have a look here: http://www.thirdreich.ca/heagles.php . I wouldn't spend $500 on a fake, but to each their own.

Here is the most common fake (not as pretty, but only $28 US): http://www.nicholasmorigi.com/catalo...%20AND%20SPORT

Thanks for the links I already have one of the cheaper fakes and inquired a while ago about the expensive aged set but alas they are no longer. Now the exchange rate has dipped right down I don't think they are worth it either, anyway!

What I'm really after knowing I guess is whether I can get a decent 24mm Dechsler style badge for around the £500.00 mark?
        Cheers,
        Si

          Simno,

I have a beautiful, near mint and 100% original 24mm badge for sale for $1,100 which is about 770E, a bit over your desired amount but well worth it.

If a reproduction is to your satisfaction, I would suggest not paying over $25.-$30. for the very common 30mm example.

If interested, please contact me via my e-mail address.

          Best regards,

          John

            Hi John,
That is a gorgeous badge - but I am after if possible the Dechsler badge which looks more like a mini 30.5mm. Thank you for the very kind offer

I haven't seen a decent fake of the 24mm Deschler ... yet. The fakers have concentrated on the small Fuess badge. I'm sure we'll see one in time.

I'm after an original 24mm dechsler if I can get one for a similar price (or cheaper!) than the 24mm Fuess?? It is only the £1000 odd pounds for an original 30.5mm I can't afford

There's no general rule, but small Deschlers are slightly harder to find than the Fuess badge, so you won't necessarily find one cheaper.
