You might want to try this thread out in the Political items forum for a better responce.
Is the Blood order a 1st or 2nd pattern?

    Cheers

      Uffff, What a difficult question!!
It´s not easy to look one of these in the market, so, there aren´t many references.
The last I saw was 3600 euros. It was a first stike made by Jos. Fuess. Second Strike are a bit more cheap, but not very much (maybe 250 euros less than the others). Diferences are the number (first strike is from 1 to 1500 more or less), silver quality (990 or 800 marked on or below the recipient´s number) and maker mark (no mark in the 2nd strike). Unnumbered samples exist too, but they are very scarce.
This medal is not very cheap, but the problem is not the money, but to find an original. Be carefull.

The last first pattern pieces I've seen for sale were 6800 Eur and 7000.00 Eur. Neither was mint, but both were in nice, worn condition and had the ribbon. The last cased example asking price was considerably more.

Currently Weitze has 3 of them:
            -800/2037 for 5000 €
            -990/1079 for 6800 €
            -990/545 for 7000€

These are close to the prices they're going for these days. NOT CHEAP!

IMO these are not the prices of this order. Only it´s the price that this dealer wish to get for the items. So thought this is a very rare order he still have three of them in stock and he´ll have them for a long time, I think.
For me it´s more reasonable the prices told by me, or those that you can see for example in Niemann´s catalogue, but, of course, if somebody is hurrired always can pick one of the Weitze´s. I´d prefer wait for a best offer, but as all of you know, actually, the price of an item is that what somebody is ready to pay for it.
                Regards

That's true, but is also true of anything else collected--whether it's an RK, Hitler's visor cap, Georgian silver, Beanie Babies, Barbie Dolls, beer cans, and so on. If you have Napoleon's snuff box, and can only get $35.00 for it, that's what it's worth. As an aside, I think if the market was not in upheaval, and if the dollar vs. Euro exchange was better, those BOs on Helmut Weitze's site would have sold.

You don't see too many 1st pattern BOs around and Weitze has more than one of them. I agree with Erich regarding value but when you see what RKs bring and the BO is much more rare.

                      Blood Order

I think 3600 Euros is a little low for a 1st pattern Blood Order. I would assume it might reflect quite a bit of wear and perhaps missing the ribbon. This is a truly historic item, awarded to a participant in an event on the order of Caesar's crossing of the Rubicon, or Napoleon's coup of 18 Brumaire (9/10 November, 1799). Bill

                      Lorenz, here is an example.

Yes, of course, a fantastic item, and nobody is discussing here the interest and the beauty of this medal, and that is the reason why I´m looking for one like this, but try to sell a Blut Order usual medal with ribbon for 7000 euros ($9100), and you´ll have to wait for a very long time.
Bill, you are a very lucky man. Cheers!
