Götz Von Berlichingen Jagst Hausen pin

I would like to read your opinion on this pin: it should be something related to a Hunting Cottege , but I don't know if it's period or post.
    Thanks

"Jagsthausen" is a place name (village with an old castle) and "Götz von Berlichingen" was a fmous knight living there who lost one arm in an battle and he got an iron arm. Goethe wrote a famous stage play with the title "Götz von Berlichingen"

"Jagst" has nothin to do with the German word "Jagd" (hunting).
Jagst is the name of a little river close to which Jagsthause is situated.

          Hello Matt,

sorry but I cannot decide if it is pre- or postwar. Those things are timeless.
Your German is not so bad. Jagd (= hunting) and Jagst (= name of the river) are very close together!

The poor one armed knight had an SS Unit named after him too. Not that it gave him his arm back...but interesting to know. See link.

I think he was the one that coined the phrase "kiss my ass" ( or the German equivalent), as I have heard, that in German, then his name was then used to mean the same thing, without directly saying it.

you are rihgt. It was Goethe who let him (Goetz von Berlichingen) say these famous words in his drama.
