              Thanks everyone for the comments. I felt fairly sure the badge was authentic based on the examples I have browsed on the web; but the dealer I bought the badge from has been known to sell some fakes, so I wanted to be certain about the authenticity of the badge.

                Enamel color

                Mark, The enamel on this badge looks too white to me, I believe that it should be more cream colored or yellowish rather than that bright white. By the way (if you don't mind telling) which site did you purchase it from.

                  Questionable to me.

                  I am not pleased with this Kreissieger Badge. Eagle's head looks wrong shape to me. Enamel isn't the right color. HJ Raute should be silver on the boarders, not bronze color. Aurich marks are known to have been on reproductions. I would pass on this one.

                    I think the whitish appearance of the main part of the badge may be due to lighting. Even so, there appears to be a contrast between the main part of the badge and the white of the HJ diamond so I think what appears white may actually be cream. I can't see anything on this badge that would scare me away. I have seen a large number of badges where the the edges of the diamond have a bronze color rather than silver. Don't know if this is due to wear, loss of finish or anything else.

                      very often on photos the enamel can look white but as stated by richard if you compare the white in the badge to the back enamel you can see the diff in colour, the kreissieger badges have never been copied this well unless this is a new fake which i doubt

                        The enamel on the badge is indeed cream in color. I am new to this type of photograghy and don't know how to disable the flash.

                          Mike, I purchased the badge at a local militaria show not on a website; this was probably about 8-10 years ago.
