GPB Gold Party Badge is it good?

Hello all, looking at purchasing this but am not sure about the back side. The pin looks odd and I'm not sure about the member # The zero and the eights look odd and not in line. I do beleive the front looks ok but would appreciate a more expert opinion. Thanks, Marc

It does have a couple of questions about it but I would wait for Steven to weigh in. I am going to assume this may be what Steven has been talking about with some military pins having a more pronounced ridge in the leaves. The number stamping on the back also worries me as the 410 does not 'look right'. You can always check out http://www.geocities.com/goldpartypin/genuinelarge.html but I buy quite a few GPBs and I would get a second/third opinion on this one. I'm not saying it is bad, but there are some questions...

This pic from the Helmut Weitze website makes me less cautious about the numbers. I'm pretty sure his is authentic and the numbers are also not quite straight

I've seen this badge before, and I was concerned enough to advise a pass. I was very concerned about the finish, leaves and the die flaw in the silver edge where the swastika touches the rim. As well, the numbers are all too skinny - look at how pinched the "8" is on the back where the two circles meet - that is not right. The stippling behind the red looks odd too. The hook catch on the back is also commonly flat and not round. I wouldn't want it in my collection, and a second look at it confirms my concerns.

I'm glad I wasn't too far off. Do you have a picture of the ridge in the leaves you were talking about on your site with military pins? That also worried me on this pin but I was wondering if it was one of the ones you identified with a slightly different ridge on ones with the military pin.

I have to say, this GPB is much closer than some of the other fakes as those are easier to pick out.

I can't post photos here, but the difference in the leaves is only slight. Anything too exaggerated should be avoided.

I also get a sense of flatness to this badge, although it may be the photos.

I'm always hesitant to label something a new fake, although it has happened before. This one is well made and I don't want to say absolutely positively, but I have a lot of problems with it compared to other military pin GPBs.

Now that you mention it I recall the price the for this one was in the $600 range - about $1400 light for a real one.

If it seems too good to be true - it is.

the top GPB is a 100% fake,thease came out of austria as did a lot of other fakes,watch out.
