Nazi stuff?

Maybe I'm being overly technical (and I certainly don't want to start a brouhaha), but I was wondering if it is appropriate to discuss Nazi (i.e. NSDAP) material on this discussion forum. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against NSDAP stuff. I have plenty (and want more!). And right now I even have a question about a Mutterkreuz that I'm dying to post. It just that.... the stuff is not really "Wehrmacht".
Maybe we could have a separate forum section for "Civil and Political Awards of the Third Reich"?
Just a thought....

Hi George,

In my opinion, there shouldn't be any problem with questions pertaining to NSDAP collectibles on our forum. We have enjoyed some lively discussions on many of the political awards to date here. Just check out the archives and you'll find some very intresting postings.

Many Wehrmacht officers, generals etc, also wore political awards. Take Sepp Dietrich, as well as wearing Wehrmacht long service awards he also wore NSDAP long service ribbons and his gold party badge. Many early members of the SS took part in the Beer Hall Putsch, thus earning Blood Order medals. So talking abut these awards fits right in.

Previous threads on Nazi items on this forum have been many and varied, so its not as if you'd be setting a precedent. They cannot however, under any stretch of the imagination, be considered "Wehrmacht".

Personally, I despise political awards and what they represent and would not give one house room, but I absolutely respect other peoples right to collect whatever interests them.
Each of us has some area of collecting where we just won't go under any circumstances, Political stuff is mine.
Of course Nazi imagery, in the shape of the Swastika is unavoidable whatever you collect from this period, but the way I look at it is that soldiers did not have a choice as to whether thier insignia carried the swastika.
I'm much happier with awards that were won for military service at the front than political cronyism. The main reason I stick with Kriegsmarine items is that they were the least politically indoctrinated of the services and least "tainted".

Okay, everybody, thanks for the input.
I especially agree with Gordon and his take on the appeal of KM items because they are not politically tainted. That's one of the main reasons I collect that field (along with EKs, which, of course, can in no way be called "Nazi" awards). But I do have a small grouping of NSDAP material to represent Hitler's regime, and I had a question about one of the Mother's Crosses. (It's hard to imagine Sepp Dietrich wearing one of those!)
I'll post it in a new thread.
