Hi Guy

Here is my NSFK Pilot Badge. Hard to find information and documentation on these Pilot Badges. This, I believe is a 3rd form Pilot Badge.

I like this badge very, but would like some opinions.

Hello Karsten, what a magnificent 'Abzeichen fur Motorflugzeugfuhrer' (Badge for powered Aircraft pilots) Your example of the Badge appears to be the pattern for the 1938 1st form
The first form is constructed of metal and the 2nd form was first introduced in late 1942 /early 1943 and exists in Metal as well as a cloth version in silver embroidery on Blue-Grey Cloth. The Motorflugfuhrer is worn on the left breast pocket.
Instituted on the 12th of August 1938 by Korpsfuhrer General Christiansen

Yes....this one was made of zinc...yours still has some of the finish...I have only had two of these, one right from the vet, then I remember many years ago my friend got three badges from the vet all painted red, one was one of these and I did not have enough money to buy this one, but I bought the other two which were two cheaper badges, I think an IAB and maybe a GAB I do not remember but I thought it was funny how they were all painted red...then there was the time how my other friend got an army zinc para from the vet painted black...who knows why people do these thigns...I will see if I can find a link to the pix of the vet bought one I had...and I have another one on hand burried somewhere....

Hello Carten, looks like I should slow down on the drinking as on reflection it can't possibly be 1st pattern as I initially stated as the 1st pattern shows the Aircraft with th NSFK logo at the base of the Abzeichen and are aslo of a different metal. Although the third pattern Abzeichens I have encountered usually shows the Bird's head not quite touching the wreath. One thing I can be certain of is your Badge looks orignal. Third Pattern examples are always numbered on the reverse (as your is) All in all quite a valuable Badge.

Hello John, I have only ever owned two of these Badges and both both occassions they were of zinc construction and the finish which was silver had been lost 100% as it had on both Badges absorbed in to the Zinc. Was the paint red oxide by any chance put on to preserve the finsih underneath

hehe...the first pattern is bullion with a biplane, second is metal with a biplane and this is the third...I am not certain of the years, but Martin is probably correct, funny about the drinking.

Hello John It's not that funny my head still hurts and everyone else is drunk anyway as they all look blurred

Martin...I have been there many times ..today it was just a nice bbq for me with some soda though....so no head pain here....hehe.
