What are they - SA or NSKK or ?

    Hello,
I have been viewing posts for a while and enjoying what I've been learning. This is the first time I've posted a question. I was hoping someone could tell me what organization wore these collar tabs and shoulder board. I bought them from a lady who a box of insignia. She knew nothing about them. Most of the things were SA, a belt buckle, buttons, an early and late style cap badge, and party armbands. I bought these tabs and shoulder board, the late style cap eagle, and the party armbands. I feel good about their authenticity but I don't know if the tabs and board are SA or maybe NSKK? They have 8 rows of braiding which looks like NSKK boards I've seen, not the 4 rows of braid for SA. Can anyone help identify what these are and what the color and 1/122 mean (district or ?). Thanks for the help.

These are both from Gruppe "Südwest," the tabs for 1st Sturm of SA Standarte 122 which took its unit designation from former imperial era Württemberg Fusilier Regiment 122, and the board is indeed NSKK.

      tabs

Rick is correct--Standarte 122 was headquartered in Heilbronn as part of Brigade 55. Nice tabs--let me know if you decide to part with them!

        Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the great info. on the tabs. Does it seem the shoulder board does not go with the tabs? (SA tabs and NSKK board?) I got them together and the colors are the same on the board and tabs. The other items that were with these were all SA and 2 War Veterans stick pins (I bought those too). One stick pin is the old style pre-Nazi Kyffhauserbund and one is the later NS-RKB. Maybe the wearer of the tabs was in the WWI regiment from that area before entering the SA, assuming the stick pins belonged to the same man. Is it possible the board was used with the collar tabs on the same uniform? What about the idea that the wearer was also in the NSKK at one time from the same district, i.e. then it would be the same color as the tabs? That may be a stretch, I think it would be more likely it was worn on the same uniform as the collar tabs. Any ideas?

          Hello Tim,
The tabs definitely would not have been worn on the same tunic, but it's possible that, if they came from the same household, the original wearer was in the SA and transferred to the NSKK. It's also possible that one person in the house was in the SA and another was in the NSKK. It's impossible to know for sure, but the tabs that went with the shoulderboard would be black with metal numbers/letters. The board that went with the tabs would have been black/orange yellow cording on top with an orange/yellow underlay.

            Thanks Erich

            Hi Erich,

Thanks for the info. I didn't read Rick's comment closely enough when he wrote that both the tabs and the board were from the same area. I guess that would make sense that they could come together from one family that had people serve in different organizations from the same region, ie same color on the insignia.

Are these rare items? Any idea what they are worth? I don't plan to sell them at the moment and I like them more now that I know what they are. I'm just curious to know how I did when I bought them. I paid $30 for them.

              Hello Tim,
You did well. They're not particularly rare, but they're good to pick up when you can find them. The board is worth about $30-35.00 and the tabs I would say $50-70.00.

Thanks Rick and Erich for the help. I wasn't looking for these but I thought it was a good oportunity when they were offered to me. It's fun to find nice, real pieces at a good price when you're not expecting it. Wish it happened more often.
