Like always I don't feel myself comfortable with both the rzm mark and Ges. Gesch. on one and the same badge.

I'm not to keen on saying things are right or wrong. The enamel badges are a real mine field and no-one can go back in time to check out what they really produced in those days. IMO the guidelines to judging a piece is much easier concerning combat awards and daggers. Their is more background information to base your thoughts on.

About this specific badge: I prefer the ones with only Ges. Gesch. and maybe an experted eye can see differences in the sun rays etc...

I'm busy with so many differnent types of badges at the moment that I no longer can follow it up

          Regards, Theo

I do not like it. Quality is poor.

Personally, I would send that one back and just wait for a correctlymarked example to turn up. Even if you were to pay a little more for a correct example, you would be in good shape as there are only so many original pieces out there. Be patient. have a nice weekend. Robert

                Hi.
In 1933 the second pattern (diamond) shaped pin came out. So the original 1st pattern pin production stopped. These would not have the RZM logo. The 1st pattern gained traditions status and could be worn until the advent of the golden honor pin in June of '34.
So was this pin made in early '34, as a traditions badge??? Would a manufacturer experiment with up and coming RZM marking??? These questions are controversial to say the least. There are die hards on both sides of this issue. Stephen Lautens book has some hard facts that the law requiring the RZM logo to be displayed commenced January 16. 1935. I have to go along with this also.
I found a really nice quality Adolf Hitler supporter pin with these controversial characteristics. I bought it cheap and I liked it's quality.
I also have an original 1st model HJ pin. I will show you both, along with others as these are the only shots I have right now ...
I would steer away from the one you have. The quality of the obverse is just not there. IMHO
