    Party pin blank?

I got this stamped party pin blank with some other items. I assume it's a novelty/fake item, but I don't know for sure. Anybody know for certain what this is?

    Regards,
    Kevin

it looks quite right too me... but then would it not have the RZM mark till its been finished and 'approved' ???

The RZM mark was a part of the stamping. There is no way they could individually stamp each finished one. The RZM approval process happened at a much higher level than individual badges - it was the manufacturer and dies that were RZM-approved.

This looks to me like an original sample strike or unfinished planchette.

It seems odd that the edge of the back nearly touches the edge of the planchet, while the front is a few mm from the edge. In other words, the diameter of the back looks bigger round than the front.

Not if you take the inside of the back circle - remember the back of these badges don't have an edge or lip, but the front does.

Thanks for weighing in, guys. I wasn't too sure about this one, never having seen one before.
