    NSDAP tiepin

Here's a tiepin which I bought last week from a UK dealer's site.

These are not really my thing but it caught my eye and I bought it!

Can anyone tell me any more about it? Was it SA or SS or someother organisation? Is it ideed "Original"?

The maker is RZM 63. Who was this maker?

Any help in IDing this piece would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

      Hi Stan,

That's an NSDAP pin, labelled as #4008 in Hüsken's book. I'm confident others will elaborate on the markings, I still haven't got the hang of it A few things though, the oversized RZM seems odd in conjunction with the lack of any M1/-number. These type of pins are often marked with a single digit and it has been suggested that it would represent a batch-number, rather than some manufacturer number. This makes sense, the manufacturer should be recognized through the M1/-number. A two digit number would indicate a lot of pins, but than again there were a lot of Party members.

      cheers

        Thanks Peter for your input.

My Frontbann badge also has this "RZM 63" mark so a maker using this number did exist.

63 would be Steinhaur & Lück, Lüdenscheid. The theory about batch numbers is for when there is no RZM marks at all, just a number. If just an RZM without an M code then it would be a transitional piece dating from the period when the change over process was still being sorted out.

Stephen Lautens will elaborate better as this area is his baby. Get his book "A collectors guide to theRZM marks of the NSDAP", worth every penny!

          Cheers

            Thanks Don.

Do you think that it is an original piece?

Thanks Don for the plug for my RZM book !

As Don said, it looks like a transitional piece (Jan-April 1935) after RZM marking became mandatory and the first numbers were issued, but before the "M1" prefix was added. I'd say a very nice original stickpin. Love the big RZM logo.

Looks good to me as well, and the Frontbann badge looks even better!
