Thank you all.
These facts have always made me give these pins the thumbs down. And the
Ludendorff is so absurd, it casts a shadow over all the like marked other supporter pins. Some are made better than others. The blue one in the link Stephen provided is terrible. Look at the file marks on the cloisonne. Check that hyphen between the R and 3. Poorly formed lettering. By the way, mine dosn't have the centering ring on the back either. Not that mine is real, I'm just sayin'.
In spite of the laws, there was initial resistance to conform and many makers kept their own logos, etc, for a short while. So much for the fear of incarceration. At least in the beginning. Thinking there gonna get a little slack till they get it together. After all, they are paying taxes and supporting the cause.
Certainly the rumors were flying in 1934, mabey earlier, that the RZM was gonna impose new rules? Like mabey the RZM is gonna officially sanction some of these supporter pins so lets be ready? I can imagine there were experiments, different tooling. There certainly are many poorly formed RZM marks out there on original items. And on some items that were not always officially sanctioned.
And the old question... Did they make these supporter pins after 1933?
Not the Ludendorff, you can bet. And the rest? Mabey into '34, as a novelty?
Oh well, I found a really well made exceptional one and wanted to share some thoughts. Thanks, Jamz
