    What's up with 22mm?

Isn't that an odd size? Doug

The pin plate looks a little bit spooky to me! They usually fill or just about fill the linning on the back of the badge!! My belief is it is fake!!

On a lighter note! Where in Seattle are you? Im up here in Everett!! We should hang out for a beer and pool or something! I have been trying to get together with other collectors in the area. Airborn Steve is down in Tacoma and im here. There are a few others that I run into on here from time to time.

      Cheers

        Hi,

        It doesn't look right IMO.

            Tell me more

For years I've been mostly looking at the enamel on these. It has the bumps painted red and then filled in with clear enamel. The front surface is nice and smooth. Don't really like the silver color but who knows maybe early war time tomback worn ect. Size kind of worried me though. I thought that undress ones were 25mm and uniformed ones were 30mm. Kind of stuck in my mind. Cann't remember where I got that from. Kind of liked the nicely done sweating of the pin on the back rather more so than a big gob of sodder. Any more thoughts? Doug

Doug The oval pinplate is a dead giveaway. As a general rule, stay away from this style and avoid RZM/1/129. That is a good first step to take. Regards Robert

Where did you get this badge from? Hope you diddnt pay too much for it! See if you can return this badge!! If you diddnt buy it then thats even better! I wouldnt touch it! Anything that looks suspect I post on here! Some times I find something that turns out to be good and I buy it. Like one of the pre-RZM badges I own (shown on the left). Even the pre-rzm badges from what I have seen has a full pin attachment. Some mini's are a little different from what I have seen.

Yes Robert, I agree that its a bad RZM. There is a few new ones out there that they are replicating now days, I forget what they are off the top of my head! I have seen one or two of them.

Have you looked at this site? http://enamelsofwar.homestead.com/

Great info there. I highly recomend you check it out. Also get a copy of the book if you want a decent ref book. A Collector's Guide to the RZM Marks of the NSDAP. http://www.cafepress.com/goldenpheasant.13806647

                Cheers

By following a few guidelines with regard to markings and font, you can build a nice collection. There are plenty of these around if you are willing to pay. Robert

I got those two badges for next to nothing. I forgot where I got them but came accross them at the right moment and snatched them quick!
