    Besides the wrong hinge the (original) pin is also ruined to make it fit the hinge, look how far it sticks out on the lower side? The original "triangular" shape of the upper parts of the pin has almost disappeared, really too bad.

    About 90% of all of these existing badges is somehow "mutilated" by adding false replacement parts or at attempts to do so. If a badge turns up WITH all hardware intact it still often shows heavy damage from aging or staying in the ground for so long.

    Original complete badges are a real rarity to find!!!!

    the ones that are for sale have some "problems" as well...

      These awards are extreemly hard to find in compleat and fine condition. As a help to the expanding interest by collectors in the Dutch awards there is a new book that will give indepth information. I give a link that I hope might be of interest.

        Posting this one which I acquired today at a local show. Sure looks like it was buried in the ground for a while before being dug-up! Perhaps it is one from the so-called "Berlin dig"?

          SOrry for the late reply! Yes most likely! From what I understand besides the tarnishing
          (some worse than others) these dug up ones all lacked the pin in the back, just like yours.
          Still a neat example of a rare badge. Thanks for your contribution to this thread that I started.
