    Books about political badges

    Hi everyone,

Did the collector of political badges notice that our friends of the millitary forces have made lots of new in-depth study books lately and have much more to look forward to in the future? I think about the existing books concerning the Sturmabzeichen, flak abzeichen, and close combat clasp. Soon their will be a specialized book about woundbadges and kriegsverdienstkreuzes. And when is it our turn? When will we see a book specialized in, for instance, all the specific badges and awards of the HJ with all the maker marks etc... nicely pictured and described? I bet many of us on this forum will help and support such highly needed education. I know you can find much info on a forum like this but nothing is as easy to check some things with a good old fashion book by the hand.

    Regards, Theo

The interest in Political items seem to be increasing along with the prices. The older books by Littlejohn, Huffman and others are great but I agree it's time for a new updated one.

Nope, my dear friend. I don't feel myself specialized enough to write a book about a political award plus my english is not good enough and I have no experience with archive reserach.

What I did noticed, since a could borrow many military award books from a friend for reading, is that some of these book are very good but a lot of them also come no farter than picturing all the different types of a certain medal and put togheter a bunch of internet information. Without any archive back up and historical facts, these books doesn't bring much new information.

Considering the political awards, the GPB is fine described by Stephen Laurens' website and more recently also the common party pin reveals all of its secrets due to Jo Rivett's website. The work of one man can sometimes makes the differences...

I agree, Wim -- there is nothing quite like a good, old-fashioned, trustworthy book in one's library that he can take down from the shelf and refresh his memory on a given subject. I find myself doing that many times each day! And nowadays, with prices like they are, I am more likely to order a new book than an artifact!
