That defies belief...and logic! My friend has one, and I'm sure he would let it go for "CONSIDERABLY LESS" if anyone is interested. Which reminds me, another friend saw a newer book at the SOS, "NSDAP enameled badges" or something like that by Tucker I believe...Can anyone comment on that one?

Hi,

I have a copie of that book. Maybe it is a bit dated now but it is still a very good reference work! In those times I think no-one care about small enamel badges, still it is a very serious work and the author claimed that it took a few years of research for writing this book. It also content info about fakes etc.. so many years back. But that price is stupid of course.

Tucker's book is only about the Party Badge but is also very interesting.

William, regarding the Tucker Book after seeing the J.R.Cone Booklet price at nearly $500 I wouldn’t dare see his price for the Tucker Book.

David, your far too a generous guy, giving away Books. I have been known to pay high prices for Books I am looking for. Although I only paid $20 for the J.R.Cone Book. It was one of the few references I didn’t have. I have to say I was not overly impressed, although to be fair to the Author it was written such a long time back

Theo, yes it is dated. Having said that it is quite rare to find. A mint condition one this week cost me only $20 and the same guy also sold me Angolia’s cloth insignia of the SS & cloth insignia of the NSDAP, both signed First editions. I already have both volumes and they did not come cheap, hence I must be losing the plot. Theo if you ever decide to sell your J.R. Cone I would think at least $150 would be nearer the price. $500 is simply over the top, although it’s rare it is non the less a booklet & as you stated quite dated now

I can't say I got much peace & quite as I attempted to read it at 3 in the morning as we had earth tremours In England last night. I though it was a Poltergeist at first as earthquakes as you know are quite rare in England

Guys,
I was able to find 6 books like this, 5 of them listed for right around $500.00. The other at $125.00. As most book sellers and buyers know, you can ask whatever you want. That doesn`t mean you`re gonna get it. I`ve got rare books that I can`t practically give away. These books could sit forever and never sell.

I'm not intend to sell it. I use it often it contains some very intersting information about enamel badges. You have to know the errors, of course. Every book has his errors. But I'm not aware of a new modern book in this specific erea. I mean with besides glossy pictures also valuable text!

Well people can charge what they want and people can pay what they want. I have the rarer blue cover version (just kidding) and I am not impressed with the book at all. Poor printing quality, black and white photos that are of poor quality (wonderful to see colorful badges this way). I have not used the book very often. Makes me wonder what a Heering-Hüsken book is worth!! Mike

I knew Jon when he wrote his book on enameled badges. Many folks do not know that Jon had the first run of his book printed with a black hardback cover on high quality glossy paper with good, clear half-tone images of the badges. It cost him quite a bit at the time. I had one of the hardback ones but foolishly sold it decades ago and am now unable to replace it. Jon was not wealthy and when demand for his book exceeded his initial supply of hardbacks he had it reprinted with the pink paper cover, spiral bound version. Unfortunately it is a relatively poor quality xerox copy of the original. Jon wasn't happy with it but there was little he could do. Does anyone out there have one of his original hardback copies?

Hello Bruce, yes I can relate to what you are saying and he deserves a lot of credit, actually taking in to account how long ago the Book was written and at the time with no internet assistance. Sorry to hear you parted with a First edition, personally I have never even seen a first edition of the Book never mind owned a copy. I have no intention of parting with my J.R. Cone second version now as even that appears to have become mission impossible to find.

reminded me of the Don Boyle's Honor Ring Book which was auctioned off in ebay for US$800.00 plus last year. Subsequently prompted the author to reprint the book and retail at US$175.00. ( original first print price is US$49.99 ... the good old days)
