      Tinnie

I know that there are alot of fakes of this certain tinnie. Can anyone say if this is real or fake as I`m not real familar with them.

While IM not saying it’s a fake it does cause me to wonder how it made it this far and stay so clean even given the fact that it is plastic, also the fonts used on this piece isn’t a style I have seen on other Richard Sieper badges sample shown here.

I think that,s a good one, it,s the metal volkswagenwerkes Mai 1938 type
          that is most commonly faked.

Anyone have a guess as to what kind of value this might have?

                Hi.

                It looks good to me.
I think the "VW freaks" would pay around Euro. 100,- for it.

                Regards
                Derek

If it has a heater that works its a fake. It has excellent details but it just looks brand new to me for being 70 years old.It also looks like it is made out of plastic. So much for it being a tinnie.

                    Kraft Durch Freude

Hello Chris, Derek's market value is in actuall fact remarkably accurate ($150). This is a seldom encountered KDF - Kraft Durch Freude (strength through Joy) Tinnie. As you know this maker is renowned for Badges constructed of Kunstoff (Plastic) and there are in actual fact three variants of this Tinnie in White, Red & Grey. Although Cheaply made, mass produced, with the pin assembly characteristics identical to that of certain examples of WHW Tinnies, in actuall rarity terms it is quite scarce.
                    Regards Martin

                      Fake

Chris, as you know there exists many copies and variants of this Tinnie. The one below I have posted I consider to be a fake and not a period example. This becomes more apparent from the reverse

                        REVERSE

Just to add to anyone who might see this post I do not sell or collect fake Tinnies, I reluctantly purchase 'copies' as they are to feature the Book I am currently writing

I asked that question a couple of times in the past and I still have to see a confirmed, original, metall tinnie of this design ... Cheers, Torsten.

Here's a photo of one of these Volkswagen pins I purchased at the local flea market today. It looked interesting and I ended up paying $35 for it. I'm curious if it is "period" as well. Thanks! Kim
