Hello Dan, DAF Tinnies are not at the higher end of the spectrum demand wise and thus market values for such tinnies is not usually high. The first German labour front tinnie is not so rare and value is approx $30-$40 (some perhaps would even consider that too high a value) although I am taking in to consideration that your example is in better condition than most examples usually encountered (often they have usually lost their silver finish)
The second Tinnie is a little scarcer to find and is around $50-$60 and far more desirable. Although as I am sure you can appreciate everyone wants tinnies these Days but nobody wants to pay current market values.

Hello Dan, yes, I think perhaps you just hit the nail right on the head with the word 'specific' for example some collectors are not collecting the tinnies as such and are collecting ones relevant to their collecting area.
Ron Manion once said, now nearly three decades back 'Tinnies still remain an area of collecting not sufficently acknowledged or appreciated by the majority of Miltaria Dealer's or indeed by the advanced collector. In fact with the exception of Rudolf Kahl and Ray Cowdery his four volumes on 'Tinnies of the Third Reich were the only Books available way back then. Utterly amazing considering the significance of the historical and political importance of numerous Tinnies. The name 'Tinnies' from my perspective actually undermines the Badges, which are in reality 'works of Art' and in most cases way ahead of their time in both design and quality and I imagine that was the intention. The scarcer one of your two DAF Tinnies, is a stunning design very much in the Art Deco influence, the style of that period in time.
From my point of view they are an excellent investment area, especially SS/SA/HJ/NSFK/NSDAP examples.

Tinnies
Martin pretty much hit the nail on the head. As far as preference goes the head of the line still pretty much goes to any SS tinnies which are far and in between. Of course the earlier tinnies are somewhat more sought after. Most Flugtag tinnies command a very good price. One of my favorites and probably not as sought after, are the ectoplast tinnies( or leather). Some of the designs and details of these tinnies are outstanding. Alot of people collect SA tinnies and these can range from very average to outstanding. NSKK and NSFK tinnies are sought after. Here`s 2 examples of fairly rare and sought after tinnies.Attached FilesLast edited by Chris Lee; 02-05-2008, 12:59 PM.

Chris, DAF/SA never even come across that one. Flugtag tinnies yes I agree along with SS Tinnies are without a doubt top end of the market. The Four you posted must be rare as I don't have any of them here are two of my favourite recent acquisitions. I have shown the reverse as sadly fakes do exist.

Some very nice tinnies on show their thanks for sharing them with us.I love tinnies and that is what I mostly collect now in particular SA and HJ ones,I think they are rather under looked as regards the third reich memorabilia at the moment, but the designs and work that must have gone into them at the time is great, wish I could have one of everyone that was made .
Cheers all,
Trev
