    Hello Tommy,

It is a certificate of Honer from the 1939 National trade competition-this was a joint HJ-DAF contest."untill 1937 the contest was for people under the age of 21 (both HJ and DAF members)the exception being students attending trade schools or comercial colleges regardless of age or sex, during the period of 1934-1937 the number of contestants rose from 1.5 miliion to 1.8 million, after eligibilty had been extended to include adults the number rose to 3.5 million contestants-there were 20 specific catagories ,sub didvided to cover 720 different crafts ,plus a general catagory for university students.Like a sports tournament the competition was held annually in progressive elimination rounds.these were first held in February at Kreis level were the winners progressed the following month to Gau level and finally in April to Reich level the national winners, thus were ready to recieve there awards on 1 May,the Day of National Labor In addition to demonstrating there skill in there particular trade, craft ,or profession, the entrants were also required to pass tests in political theory, sport, composition and elementry math. They had also to be members of some Nazi-approved organization. The competition continued to be held throuhout the war years, during which time it was renamed war Trade Competition (Kreigsberufswettkampf) the last being held in 1944.No award badges for the war years other than 1944 has been encountered.Winners of the Kreis,Gau and Reich level were awarded badges and award documents. Originally only national level victors received an award."this info is quoted from J.R Angolias "Labor Organizations of the Reich"

here is another paragraph regarding your documant"Competition victors at all levels were also presented with an award document, with each year having its own document design. It was standard practice that,as part of the handicraft competition, contestants were required to submit a design for the following years award document.Reichssieger award documets were hand signed by Dr.Ley for the DAF and Baulder von Schirach (later Artur Axmann) for the HJ.lesser award documents bore facsimile signatures. It is interesting to note that the 1944 documants are signed by Reich minister of Food,Herbert Backe ,rather that Dr.Ley.The award document for 1939 was presented in a large card-board binder with the document on the right and a portrait of Hitler on the left.On the front of the binder was a raised simulated gold badge, twice normal size, bearing the Reichssiger designation. Those awards rendered to students were hand signed by Reichstudentfuher Dr.Gustov Adolf Scheel."
again this info is quoted from Agnolias "labor Organizations of the Reich"A very nice find Tommy!!
