    Badge ID needed--Wettkampflieger 1940

Greetings from Chelsea, Quebec. Excellent forum!!! Hope you can help me ID this badge. Measures 60mm x 68mm overall. Attached to a backing cloth with prongs...sewn directly to a uniform I suspect. I think it's a shooting award for a veteran's organization????

    Regards,

    Rob Dekker

No.. it's loading OK. I think you're bang on. A shooting badge for the Veterans Association (Kyffhauserbund). Rather nice it is too. Wettkampfsieger - Match winner.

picture loaded just fine...excellent piece first one I have seen as a sleeve badge I would say it's for the NS- Reichskriegerbund (Nazi State Soldier's Association)...

Well, it does have the Kyffhäuser memorial (on top of the Kyffhäuser "mountain"). Is that a pointer?

Schleppfux, The NS- Reichskriegerbund 1933-45 and the Kyffhäuserbund 1920-33 are one and the same organization just a change of names after the NSDAP came to power they both used the Kyffhäuser moument in their insignia. Any time you see a target with or without weapons used in a badge or any design you pertty much bet it's for a marksmanship event. And this is one fine example.

Outstanding piece - very interesting also - imperial iron cross representation on the bottom with swastika's on the sides in the oak leave clusters. VERY NICE....
