    Lates Arrival - RKK pin

    Hi

Thought I would share my latest acquisition - an Reichskulturkammer pin.

It came with a Reichstheaterkammer membership book and I really liked the look of the pin.

          Thanks Theo

I don't think that are rare, but it is neat to have one with the membership book.

They could have been put together two weeks ago, but as it is an area that does not seem to interest many collectors, so maybe not

            Raymond,
Nice addition! Nice looking pin. You should investigate more about the "rarity level" of that one. Doesnt look that common.

Raymond is correct, these are not uncommon pins, most dealers will have at least one on their inventory.

Nice find Raymond, as shown these are always marked to Deschler & never RZM'd. May we see the booklet?

For anyone intertested the RKK's purpose was to be the national organization for the monitoring and control of German culture. It "approved" art and artists, and excluded the decadent, Jewish, etc, making it impossible for them to work or display their art. It was intimately involved in both the 1936 "Degenerate Art" exhibition and the 1937 Haus of German Art. Formed on Sept. 22, 1933 by "Reichsminister für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda" Joseph Goebbels, the Reichskulturkammer eventually consisted of 7 other specialist bodies:

Reichsschrifttumskammer - for writers - (President: Hans Friedrich Blunck, later: Hanns Johst).
Reichsfilmkammer - for film - (Presidents: Fritz Scheuermann, Oswald Lehnich, Carl Froelich).
Reichsmusikkammer - for music - (President from 1935: composer Richard Strauss, later: Peter Raabe).
Reichstheaterkammer - for theatre - (President from 1935: Otto Laubinger, later: Rainer Schlösser).
Reichspressekammer - for journalists & the press - (President: Max Amann) Reichsrundfunkkammer - for radio - (President: Horst Dreßler-Andreß; discontinued as a separate Chamber in 1939).
Reichskammer der bildenden Künste - for painting, sculpture etc (President: Adolf Ziegler).

The RKK continued until 1945, with a succession of Vice Presidents, including Walther Funk, Leopold Gutterer, Karl Hanke and Werner Naumann.

              Cheers
              Don

                    Here's something interesting.
Is that number on the book, the number of the membership? If so, Karl's membership book and Raymond's have a very close number!
                    79484 on Karl's, and 79451 on Raymond's
So if that is indeed, the membership number, maybe that man and that woman were workmates!

Well spotted. I noticed this and thought it was a great co-incidence.

I will check where the member worked and get back to you. Maybe it is just a coincidence, but you never know.

                        Best wishes

theres two identical bits of hand writing on both and the stamp both number 18, they must have had there permits made within minutes and stood probably in the same que!

good luck with the information hunt!

Ive showed this thread to Mike (evilmike) through MSN, and he also noticed that the handwritting is the same on both (except for the member's signature). He also noticed that the stamp is the same used in both books, showing the number "18".

EDIT: Sorry, didnt see Mike already posted before.
