    HJ member badge

What do you guys make of this painted Zinc member badge? I am not comfortable with it. Cheers, Torsten.

      Hi,

The painting is a little bit sloppy. Personnally I don't like it but that's just my opinion.
On the other hand I think I saw this combination from a zink badge with a yellow alloy safety pin before.

I just remember it: On Craig Gottliebs' site their are HJ Proficiency Badges. These have almost the same combination from a "probably" zinc badge with a retaing pin and pin plate from a yellow colored brass alloy (maybe Tombak?)

Theo, thank you very much for the follow up. I have still not been able to find another example of this type of HJ member badge, but since there has been no general outcry here about it...I assume that it must be a good one then... Cheers, Torsten.

Hi Torsten, I am not a big HJ collector, but I like the badge. The age to the zinc and overall quality look fine to me.

              Cheers, Ade.

I've had a badge of like construction in the past which I thought was fine (can't remember who the maker was).

This one looks like it has zincpest too which I don't believe can be convincingly faked.

What is it you don't like about it Torsten?

I am glad to hear of course that the badge is a good one. What made me unconfortable about it was the almost new looking, sloppily done painting on the front and the shiny Buntmetall needle on the back. Cheers, Torsten.

IMO it´s a good one. It´s very usual to find this kind of badges with this new looking. I supose that this is cause a lot of them are unused.

                    Regards
