    Gau Ehrenzeichen Thüringen

Just got this Numbered Gau Ehrenzeichen Thüringen in silver stamped 800.
Political badges is not my think, so I would really appreciate some opinions/thoughts of this piece from the experts.

    Thanks

    Cheers

                  Gau Thueringen Badge in Silver

                  Karsten,

I am not at home until Thursday and so cannot compare with my own Gau Thueringen Badges (I have both Silver and Bronze versions) but what I can say is that I have never seen a Gau Thueringen Badge with a horizontal pin before. They are always horizontal.

Otherwise the badge looks OK but I need to take another look at my own badges.

Stan, it's a correct vertical pin.

This will soon go to e-stand, so I would appreciate on or two more opinions, if possible

                      Cheers

                        what will the price be?

also is there a (cheapR) tinnie style version of this?

I'm with Stan on this one. I've been studying these for some years now & it's the first I've seen with a virtical pin, it's always horizontal reaching from wing to wing.

                          Cheers

I have to apologize to Stan and fault my memory. I pulled out mine #1061 that I bought some years ago with the young party member's pair of GPBs. He was a civilian and wore no tunic. My #1061 does indeed have a horizontal pin. I don't know what I was thinking.

But take a look at the back of this one. It is numbered in the proper range #1176. And look closely at the middle area of the third row up of feathers on the left pointing wing in picture #2. Notice the solder debris. And look over to the right at the outer feather of the vertical wing down from by the second semi-circle. There is more solder debris. This is an original badge that had the pin and catch moved 90* to the vertical. The eagle looks right on to me. Karsten, what is its weight? There might be a bit more as the pin looks a few mm longer.

I wonder now how a horizontal pin arrangement, which is actually a brooch design, would function on a party tunic. The medal loops would have to be spaced horizontally. Perhaps this owner had the pin rearranged for wear on his tunic. I think the badge is right and had a new pin arrangement. First I have seen, but I haven't seen that many to begin with.

I Concur With My Esteemed Colleagues That I Have Serious Reservations As To The Authenticity Of This Badge. I Have Onwed Two And Both Had A Horizontal Pin. The Quality And Detail Work Does Not Come Up To The Quality Of Either Badge I Owned.
