I would leave it as is. In this case it's better to keep it original IMHO.

So would I, plus I also imagine it would be pretty tough to find a period pin

          Hi

I have never seen an original pin for sale, though to be fair, I have not looked that much.

You could put an advert on the wanted section and see if that has any success for you.

If you decide to find one, then good luck with the search

          Raymond

It appears that your badge was created with a brooch pin arrangement; a safety pin style of attachment. I have never seen a pin available and to attempt to attach a replacement should you find one could result in damage to your expensive collectible. I would leave it be.

These pins fell off Gold Party Badges all the time. I would leave it off as well, and have never seen a proper one for sale separate from the badge.

If you are determined to "repair" it, many period repairs simply used a plain gold coloured safety-type pin and round pinplate, which you could cannibalize from any other organization's period membership pin and solder on. The small Deschler badge as pictured often used a plain, unmarked pinplate.

very nice badge, i´ve got my first golden party badge today too and o wonder, its missing the pin too. I first thought of replacing it with a needle taken from a normal party badge but i leave it as it is and save the money for another one with needle on it. Man, I like these badges soooo much! Unfortunately they are so expensive. The plus on mine is, I know to who it was awarded.

Do remember that many will call a badge a fake because of it having the wrong pin, so think of that also.

Plus one very good re-sell point is it comes with that Detlev COA which i assume will become null & void the second you do any type of repair at all.
I would leave it too, will look perfect in a display anyway.

Patzwall lists 902 recipients of the "AH" version of the badge, but I have found a few he does not list, so there were likely a few dozen more. Still, well under 1000 (plus extras for each owner), and about 22,500 recipients of the numbered version.

                              Hello,
thank you for the exact numbers of the party badges. Do you have a list with the wearers, which are not published in the Patzwall book?
