    Golden Party Badge Opinion

    Golden Party Badge Opinion:

While hitting some local area antiques shops today, I came across this Deschler & Sohn (Munich) Golden Party Badge with the number #1711. I don't have any experience or knowledge of any of the party badges or medals and am relying on the opinions of the forum (as I have done in the past). Also, if this piece is genuine what would be the value?

    Thanks,

    John

        Okay

        Erich,

Thanks for that provocative and detailed answer . I’m sure you probably know what you are talking about, but can you please provide a quantitative answer as to why you don’t like this piece?

        Thanks,

        John

          Gold Badge

Sorry, you're right--I hate those kind of answers myself!
Here's a link to the Gold Party Badge page--you can see this type of copy pictured. The pattern of the reverse is unlike an original (which you can see also on the site) military pin type and the 'O' on the front is oval where it should be round.

As you can see, it's quite different than the original version. I picked up one of these back in the late 70's from Delta International--they had examples with many different member numbers stamped.

          Sorry for the prior comment!

            Wow

            Erich:

Thank you for the second reply and the reference! You just saved me $700. I was seriously considered buying this piece. Once again I dodged another bullet, thanks to the watchful eye and knowledge of the members of this forum.

            Thanks again,

            John

                Follow-up

Erich: Here is a responce I got from the website you referenced

"Yep - it's a fake. Lots of things give it away - the "O" is oval and
not round; the leaves are the wrong shape; the numbers on the back are not in a straight line."

I recommend this source for anyone thinking of buying a Golden Party Badge http://www.geocities.com/goldpartypin/fakes2.html

I think I'll take the $700.00, I saved to the Military Relics Show going on this Saturday (May 24) in San Antonio and treat myself to something nice!

                Thanks agian!
