NSDAP gold pin : fake or real ?

    Hi lad's,

I was offered a gold "fuess" party pin, but I do find some things intriguing in it :

+ the letters arent straight ; they seem "hand made". all letters in fuess model badges are more "bolder" and with rectangular angles

+ the orientation of the enamel doesnt match with the examples

+ the back : no makers mark ? should all nsdap gold fuess model pins should come with a makers mark ?

+ the back is flat, not common, and the pin bothers me

Could you guys please give your opinion on the badge ?

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Goncaloproenca,

I can not profess to be an expert, gold party badges are way out of my league. But I do not like this one at all, frankly it looks horrible. Your points are very true.

In addition it would seem that the manufacture of the gold party badge shares some common features of the every day enamel party badge. Similiarities include the tips of the swastika should touch the surrounding circle, and perhaps the hyphen between the L and S should be closer together, not sprawled as in your pic.
Fellow member Frobler's brilliant website taught me these golden nuggets of information.

If you want some pics of original gold party badges just type it in to the search facility and good make a comparision.

      More observations.

Note that the enameled disk has been remounted. The "cross" where the two separate branches of the wreath originate should be in line with the "A." in D.A.P.

The pinback could be a replacement.

You like to see these things with a heavy patina and some repair work. They were heavily worn as these things could really "open doors" in Nazi Germany. So they got frequent, heavy use as a rule of thumb.

Especially a guy with a number under 10,000!!

The swazi tips not touching the circle does not bother me.

As with most of these, the silvering on the letters is long gone.

      Here's mine

I think it's okay--the pin has been replaced (not uncommon), and the center has been re-attached with the wrong orientation, but the details and enameling look correct to me.
