merdock, It is a Badge for employees and workers for the armed forces. Such as the Heer, Kriegsmarine and Waffen-SS.

The monster Heering-Hüsken catalog of German organization pins identifies this as an item for Waffen-SS supporters (Gefolgschaftsmitglieder der Waffen-SS). Catalog number 4123b. Must be common in Europe, as they only valued it at DM80. The example they show has very detailed eagle and wreath.

Histaria , If you'll also look at item # 9502b in Heering-Hüsken catalog you will see virtually the same pin design used to ID employees of the Wehrmacht.

I dug out old reliable Brüggemann-Rowedder (Deutschland im Spiegel seiner Abzeichen 1930-45)) and they agree with the Wehrmacht designation. It would make a lot more sense, given the relatively common occurance of this pin.

It's worth noting that everyone seems to agree that this was an award ("ehrenzeichen") not just a membership or association pin.

It became an award when issued in gold for 25 years service to the Wehrmacht.
