Are you able to ask that person under what circumstances he received his pin and why he bought it from Gahr and not from the regular dealer, Hoffstetter? Also, was your contact a high ranking person or a early member or attached to any special unit or awarded or made eligible due to any special circumstances?

Here is a Gahr SS ZA which is similar to one of the types shown in this thread.

It is presumably for member #20267, which I did not find in any of the SS officer lists.

The pin is age darkened, but there is no damage other than some light surface scratches. The diameter is 14.5 mm.
