    Miss pressed tinnie.

    Hello all,
has anybody come across a miss pressed tinnie before? I got this tinnie in a mixed lot i bought at auction.
Please, could anyone shed some light as to the rarity or non-rarity of something like this, as i thought this would not have slipped by the quality control, if there was one, for tinnies.
    Many thanks,
    Lee.

In the coin world, mistakes like this can be sought after depending on the degree of the error (1955 and 1972 double die cents for example) and bring many times the value of a non-error issue. Other errors such as off center cents, may be common enough that the command a premium over the normal price but not significantly.

That being said, there is a whole genre of error collectors in the coin realm but that has not yet been a niche of collecting in the militaria world. So errors like this, though interesting and possibly rare, probably don't command much, if any, of a premium over a normal piece. In fact, it may actually have a lower value as it would be considered "imperfect" and therefore potentially less desirable. A genre of error collectors would have to develop before any premium would be assigned to an item like this.

Personally I find errors from the TR very interesting because of the standards and quality control they had in the manufacturing process of just about everything. Sometimes things like this or the Schrobenhansen packets for the Westwall medal slipped through. I have a DKiG award document on which the pictured award is off center at the top which I purchased because it was the only document error I had ever encountered for this award. Thanks for sharing the pics. Very interesting error.
