      Welcome, Pauline.

Your Coburg badge should match one of these.

Reverse showing earlier thin pin and later wide pin. The RZM stamp may be on the wreath or centered on the swastika.

          Welcome to the forum Paul

You have to be an association member (paid membership) to post pics, or you can upload them to websites such as www.imageshack.us and then post them here. When you upload an image after it finishes uploading they will give you some links and you have to copy the one called "hot link for forums 1" and past it here in a post.

Lovely badges Bob. Here is mine.

One other thing to look for is that the catch usually opens to the left.

Thank you all for your replies and help. Nothing is simple, I wish the badge did look like the ones in the pictures, it is very badly damaged, that was the reason I wanted to post the pictures. The fact is my husband picked it out of a ditch over 20 years ago in Nottingham. It is either a dumped fake or the real thing with fire and plough damage. He is not a collector. He just doesn,t throw anything away! The imageshack route sounds complicated - its difficult when your 94!!

                      Hello Pauline,

Your badge is not authentic. It is missing important details.

Bob is quite correct - - the badge is a copy - - - they first appeared here in England in the early/middle 1960's. As I recall - - they were even back then expensive !! But in those days there were no photo references or discussion Forums like these and many collectors were duped into parting with their money.

The Coburg badge is an extremely rare and very desirable award - - so these fakes were eagerly snapped up but they are nothing more than "spacefillers".

A bit of background information which you may find helpful .

I think I will leave it there then.
