I'm not too familiar with the gold and can make no comment on it other than the lettering appears a bit thinner than I am used to seeing on the silver versions. The silver looks like a nice original.

The silver one looks just great to me; characteristics are identical to mine. But I don't like the Gold one!

Have a look at the other forum - I think someone had the gold one in hand and returned it after finding glue holding the eagle on. It also had a fake ribbon on it that has since been removed. I don't like it.
