    Hello Gregory,
    I believe these were produced in the late 70's and early 80's and marketed by Delta International and WWII Ltd. I'd never seen one before then.

      I agree that the above pictured badges all seem to be postwar. However, my father was in the Afrikakorps at the start of his military career and remembers wearing a similar badge on occasions. The badge was lost after the war and all he remembers is that it was the palm with a swaz.

      It seems the modern badge above was based on a similar badge that apparantly existed, even if the design was slightly different. Check out the pic, unfortunately very small and therefor unclear when blown up.

        DAK badge

        Great photo Frank! It does confirm that pins of a similar design certainly existed pre 45. The pin pictured by Gregory, though, I'm sure is a modern reproduction as I've seen many of them since the 1970s. You can see by the shape of the pin on the reverse, if worn on a tunic or shirt, it would not lay flush with the material but would be loose.
        I remember that they used to sell this insignia on reproduction DAK caps also.
