    Wagner Tinnie?

Anyone recognize this. I believe Richard Wagner had something to do with the "Arts" of the Third Reich. The medal/tinnie reads

    Richard Wagner
    National Denkmal in Leipzig
    Grundsteinle Cung
    6.3.1934

The name Zeissig appears just under his back hairline. The maker is Glaser & Sohn Dresden

I received this with a couple of other medals from a vet. I'm not sure why he chose this one. Is this considered a medal/tinnie/badge? Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks Jeff

Jeff, From what I can get out of Tieste's book it is a tinnie commemorating the laying of the corner stone for the Richard Wagner National monument in Leipzig. Zeissig is most likely the artist who designed of the tinnie.

          James.

Thanks for the info. Any data in your book as to how many of these were made?

Jeff, I have this tinnie too. It is a really nice, well-made, heavy piece, isnt it?

                Tinnie

Thanks for the info. It is very heavy for a tinnie. That what made me wonder if it would be classified as such.
