Cufflinks and a Japan/German youth conference find...

Hi, I am a newbie at pins and badges. I usually collect firearms and photos. But I found these two pins at a Antique show in Mount Dora Florida.

Can anyone tell me about the SS cufflinks? they have an RZM circle on back with M/183 and very tarnished. I did a search and noticed they are being reproduced by in england but look super shiny and of different quality (see picture). The enamel is of similar quality to an SS Ahnenerbe ring that I have so I was inclined to buy it.

I also found this pin that says Japanese German conference I believe, and i think the hitler youth flag is small and under eagle, so this was a japanese and hitler youth sports event in 1944 at the said town I believe?

I welcome anyone's expertise and comments. thanks.

I'm afraid that I don't hold out much hope for these items.

Firstly, SS enamel work was kept outside of RZM control. None of their enamel zivil or sponsoring members pins were subject to RZM marking, so I doubt that cufflinks would be either.

The Japan badge........ Does it have a narrow oval pinplate with clipped off ends? If so definitely post war made. There is considerable discussion on whether these badges existed at all, but certainly not with the style of pin plate described above.

    Cheers

that's so annoying that people would go through so much trouble as to simulate aging or to even make these in the first place. I understand the concept of making a quick buck, but there is so many more avenues of dealing with real stuff that they could do. Like selling original photographs, those are low cost but still real.

It's really gay that there is a whole market of creating fantasy pieces.

So the ss cufflinks are a fantasy piece? why wouldn't they make fakes of something that existed, wouldn't that sell more?

If you fake something that never existed, it is more likely that one day, somebody will stumble across it and think to themselves "what a rare find, never seen one of those before!" The bait is swallowed.

        Best,
        Toby.
