I must admit that I have never seen this variation before either I would't like to say if it is good or bad, as I do not know.

I have the same variety badge as yours. It came attached to an EK2 with other items in a vet buy. It shows evidence that it has been pinned to the EK for decades and I think it will stay there. I will get some pics up soon for comparison.
