    Adolf Hitler bust .

I hope this is the right section for items like this , if I am wrong - please post or pm me with where I should put this.

I have obtained this figure / bust of "Adolf".
Size from base to head - 8 inches , actual size of fogure / bust from base to head 5 inches.

It is not bronze - a friend of mine has suggested that it might be an alloy , possibly "spelter" ?
It is coated with a bronze type finish , underneath it appears to be black.
At the nape of the neck is the name W. Zoll.
The base is solid marble and the bulk of the weight is in the marble.

The figure appears to be hollow , a look at the base shows it to be be sealed and plugged.

The figure is detailed and does not appear to be badly made .
Some slight signs of wear along profile lines , ears, brough, nose.

The flash efect makes it look "golden" in colour , it is in fact a dull in daylight and only takes this high colour in bright conditions, the wear to the surfaces can be seen .

If anyone can lend an opinion or tell me anything about it I would be grateful.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi James, this type of thing is copied but I feel that yours is good. The quailty looks to be OK and the wear looks right.

I think your friend means "Spelter". This was a zinc alloy which was then cold painted to look like bronze. You might have heard the term used on the "Antiques Roadshow"? It was a cheap way of making what looks like a bronze figure. Once you pick one up though the light weight is a giveaway too.

        Cheers, Ade.

          Thanks Ade

Ade , thanks for the reply and the thumbs up.
The spelling , my mistake .
          ( Corrected it !)

I obtained this via a "Swap" with a friend , if the piece were wrong it could can be "undone" without any ill will or bad feelings.
