Help with German Eagle Order Cross

I'm reposting this from the German Crosses section to here at the suggestion of another member.

I've read a lot of posts on this board and am definitely in the presence of some very sharp folks. I'm hoping I can get some assistance on identifying a particular cross that I have.

I researched online and found it to be a variation on the Order of the German Eagle and thanks to a site (ww2awards.com) I was directed to this forum.

I know it's a repro but would like to know if anyone knows anything else about it, any assistance would be much appreciated

The first image shows the front of the cross, the second shows the reverse side, and the third shows a detail of the number under the clasp.

I'm surprised no one here knows anything about this medal.

I'm going to put it on ebay and see if I can generate any interest and information about it there

I looked for an article that W.C. Stump had written way back....he had emailed it to me and have since lost it. I was on the Eagle Order and very nice/good article.
Anyone else have it?

In my opinion he is fake… but it could be an early prototype to compete in the awarding of the manufacture of this decoration

It is a fake, but the thread is from 2006 and the poster have not been online since
