You have a very nice porcelain badge made by the Miessen porcelain factory you can tell this by their crossed swords logo. This one is for an aircraft company meeting in München. In the picture IM posting here will show how the badge was mounted for ware.

Its a sort of an event badge, a “hauptversammlung” is a general meeting, the Lilienthal Gesellschaft was a company for air flight research…<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

Well, it's not in my hands at this moment (I did hold it in my hands this past weekend). It will be soon again. If memory serves, it is about 2 1/2" diameter.

                Liliënthal Gesellschaft

                Hello,

The Liliënthal gesellschaft was a research grouping who did research Gliderplane use, etc ... and can be seen a bit as the natural precedor of the later DFS (Deutsche Forschungsstelle für Segelflug).

It is a nice medallion and i have not seen that much arround.

Cordial greetings + thanks for sharing.

                  Some more background:

                  - " To invent an airplane is nothing. To build one is something. But to fly is everything. "

"Otto Lilienthal (23 May 1848 – 10 August 1896), the German "Glider King", was a pioneer of human aviation. He built the first controllable glider, the Derwitzer Glider in 1891. He could ridge soar for extended periods in a similar way to modern hang gliders. ..." ==>
