What Do You Make Of These?

    Hi Everybody!

I picked these up recently and wondered what you all make of them.

From the writing on the badges it would appear that they relate to a glider competition held by the aero club of Germany, specifically the 'International Glider Wettbewerb (town or something else?) 1937'.

One badge is a tinnie for the competition (I presume) and the other the entrant's badge (name: Latchamn - England).

Ever seen anything like this before?

Any comments / thoughts etc. appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Toby.

        Wettbewerb = competition.

I particularly like to collect the flying competition and exhibition tinnies & esoterica. Here are two great examples.

We can imagine the chagrin of our visiting Englishman when after dutifully writing his information on the supplied cardboard disc and assembling the whole, he discovers that the silly design has obliterated his identity!

        Lovely pieces! Thanks for sharing.

                Hi Stuart,

Yes, I got them from a local badge collector / dealer (he's like a magpie and will buy anything so long as it has a pin on the back) who's had them in his collection for some years now.

                All the best,
                Toby.

PS I'll probably be looking to sell them both at some stage in the future.

                  There you go again....

                  Alright TobyR -

Now you put the bait in the water... "...at some stage in the near future..."

Torturing the tinnie faithfull.... I'm sure several of us would be interested when it becomes "feeding time"....

                  Best regards-

                  Kevin
