I would like to know if any one knows the award criteria for the Ehrennadel der SS-Heimwehr Danzig??

I believe that it was developed in 1939 for members of the SS-Heimwehr Danzig (Danzigs SS Home Defense Unit) that saw action in the Danzig region in September 1939 before being incorporated as part of the 3rd (Totenkopf) Waffen SS Division. About 1500 were supposed to have been awarded and real examples are very scarce today and valued at about $600-750.

Here's an example I have in a Soldbuch.

The Soldbuch was issued 25.10.1939 whilst he was serving with 3 Kompanie, SS Totenkopf Panzer Abwehr Abteilung.

According to a questionaire I have regarding his service, he served with SS Heimwehr Danzig from 1.6.1939 until 30.9.1939.
He later went on to serve with 5 SS Pz.Div. "Wiking" and 12 SS Pz.Div. "Hitlerjugend". He was killed in action 10.6.1944 fighting in Caen.

I had meant Euros, not dollars (my mistake) and had used that figure only because there have been a couple of reputed originals on the market recently in that range. Andre has one now that is unserialized at 750E and I believe that he might still have a serialized one in the same price range. I passed on one a couple of years ago at $500 US and still regret doing so.

No problem........anything is only worth what the buyer is prepared to pay in any case!

The only original of these I have ever seen for sale was in Hamburg about 5 years ago and it was selling at the equivalent of £900 GBP. It had a pinback - for wear on the tunic pocket.

thats a nice soldbuch entry Ian, I bet that this award entry is more rare than the pin itself!!

one more question: have any of you seen a real one?? I am wondering if the pin were a good quality made? I ask you this bacause I have seen one in Andre Huesken website and looks like any other pin done in third reich period, but the picture is not so good also.

I have a SS Soldbuch to a soldier who served with Heimwehr Danzing (who went on to serve in the 14 (Pz.Jg) kompanie of SS Totenkopf J.R.3) who was awarded the Ehrennadel der SS-Heimwehr Danzig. Books with these entires are few and far between.
