Silver Coaster made by Wellner, Borman style eagle?

Forgive me for my ignorance concerning this item.

Is this the Borman style eagle? Used on his silverware?

    Piece made by Wellner.

Or is this just a common Nazi State Service item?

Coaster has a very think Felt(?) inert, that fits inside the rim.

If other photos are needed, please let me know.

    Cheers,
    Howard

It is the eagle used on state pieces--I don't believe it can be tied to any individual, but rather it's a government property stamping. Nice coaster!

            Hello Erich,

            Thanks for the comments.

I has found one similar on Snyder's sight last year, and he.....as always embellished it as being from Borman's silver service. I was hoping someone could either confirm or debunk this idea.

            Thanks debunking the Borman angle.

            Regards,
            Howard

              1. SILVER #30854 Political Silver Plate Drink Coaster

This drink coaster is rumored to have come from Martin Bormann’s house on the Obersaltzburg but there is not way to verify this as we do not know the type of silverware that Bormann used. This coaster however is marked with the political eagle with open wings and looking to the viewer’s left. The eagle clutches a swastika within a wreath. The wings have the cut in tips which are typical of other political silver pieces I have had in the past. This coaster measures approximately 4 ½-inches round. It is marked on the bottom, “Wellner” and beneath this has the number, “2 ¼” within a circle. The coaster has an insert which has a brown velvet covering. The insert comes out of the coaster so that it could properly dry after serving a purpose during a luncheon or dinner. The insert shows some age but is still all there. There is a manufacturer’s round hole in the center of the letter portion of the coaster which most likely acted as a way to remove the insert from the silver coaster. A very nice item here the first of which I have acquired. Excellent. $395.00
