    Blood Order recipient list

Is there a list of 1st and 2nd pattern Blood Order recipients? Does anyone know if there is any difference in the award documents for the 1st pattern recipients and the 2nd? Any help appreciated. I have an award document but am having a heck of a time trying to research the recipient.

Klaus Patzwall's book on the Blood Order (in German) contains a list of the first pattern recipients and a partial list of second pattern recipients. The award document for the first pattern was a single printed oversize sheet featuring a Blood Order at the top of the page and recipient information below. The second pattern award document was a far more elaborate affair featuring a red leatherette folio impressed with the party eagle that containined the document. Very few first pattern documents are known, while the second pattern is more common. There was also a Besitzurkunde presented with the second pattern that was an small oil cloth identity sheet providing the photo and information of the authorized recipient of the Blood Order.

An irritating detail of the award documents is the lack of notation of the Blood Order number. Usually the Besitzukunde or other documentation is necessary to connect a numbered award to the award document or name of the owner. I had this difficulty when I purchased a set on auction.

        Additionally....

Just an added note - some blood order recipients weren't eligible ....

"1934 March The Blutorden (Blood Order) medal is instituted by the Nazi party. Originally named "The Sign of Honor for November 9, 1923" it is awarded only to veterans of the Munich Putsch. It will later be presented to a very select few for outstanding personal achievement."

That's not accurate--the 2nd type awards were awarded to approximately 2000-2500 individuals, whereas the first pattern, which was awarded to 9. November persons, was only awarded to 1500.
There was also a small linen id for the 1st type Blood Order as well, but it was completely different from the 2nd type. There is an example of the 1st type in Patzwall's book.
