You very likely talking about Hermann Lons tale, but I didn't know that these "war of the 30 years" guerrillas called themselves Werwolf.
May I know where this info came from?
Is there any source for this claim?

    Many Thanks

I'm always interested to see new items.

But sorry, I think both things in your collection have no relation to "Der Wehrwolf" or to the "Werwolf".

        hi guys

Hmm t.k. i dont think you read the history correct, the nazis was inspirred by a novel from lons thats was hes defination of what he called werhwolf inspirred by what took place during the 30 years war in europe between the habsburger and france. Most of this war was between "hired guns" but you will look a loong way to recognice the word wehrwolf in the 30 year war bec of lons expressions born in 1910. the 3 reich was then inspirred of hes words and eventually ended up in the Hitlerjugend - and in the end in " sonderkommando " or in presenttime word - Specialforces. more detailed explanation is in the link below.
Watt, Roderick H. (October 1992). "Wehrwolf or Werwolf? Literature, Legend, or Lexical Error into Nazi Propaganda?".
So Bob H. is def. correct, the word wehrwolf is pre freikorps.

and i thank sergeant 08 for his thoughts

Here are the two pins from meine Opa's possessions. I have no history as I was still a youngster when he passed. I always liked skulls, so I was allowed to have these. Opa was from Danzig.

            Nice Wehrwolf (1923-1933) membership badges!

Unusual is, you wrote in posting #12: "......my Grandfather's belongings and he immigrated to the US before the turn of the century". I guess, that he got it later.

What is the color of the "W". Red or black? Normally it was red, but it existed variants with a black "W", too.

PS: I know, it existed foreign Wehrwolf Ortsgruppen (German immigrants) with only a few members (for example in New York) for a short time.
