    These haver been discussed before. Alpine lifesaving service. High quality construction, unusual pin setup but not impossible for the time. Can't be definitively classed as a repro or original. No period photos showing badge in wear have ever been seen. Here is a link on a discussion of Red Cross enamel badges where this was discussed previously. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...rettungsdienst

        Alpine Red Cross Badge

        Hi,
        You can find reference to this badge in the 'Heering - Husken' catalogue on page 83.
        It is listed as item# 5601 dt. Catalogue is available from www.huesken.com
        I have seen on some forums this badge listed as a 'fantasy item' It is a beautiful badge, and I believe did exist, but as always there are copies that spoil things.
        Hope yours turns out to be real.

        Geoff.

          Hello,
          Geoff it does seem that the majority belief about these items is that they are fantasy, in your post you say you think they did exist but that unfortunately there are copies made that spoil things. Have you any info that would back up your feeling about these items & how, if they did exist, a real one would differ from the repros? I don't ask this in a challenging way just wondering. I have one of these badges also & believe me while I would love it to be the real thing as I said preponderance of belief on them is that they are fantasy pieces. Thanks for any info you may have.

            I have to say again these are copys. They were produced with other good fantersies in the mid 80's. The manufacturer of these is known. He has produced many other very convincing enameled pieces. The fact they are in a reference book dose not make them real. I have used a piece in a book and it has proved incorect. This dose not make it real or the fact that I made a mistake any less credible.

              Alpine Red Cross Badge

              Hi,
              I e-mailed Andre Husken in regards to this badge and whether it did exist as a genuine period piece. See reply below;

              "Yes, you can find the badge in the old red cross newspaper magazines from 1938-1945 and also in the Verordnungsblatt des
              Deutschen Roten Kreuz."

              It's a great badge, I would certainly love to own a genuine one, and will continue to seek out more info.

              Best Regards,
              Geoff.

                Now possibly if we can find one of these period publications we can finally put this debate to rest as to is it real or fantasy, not to say there aren't copies of these badges but that will an issue of another debate. Good job Geoff.
