    Nuremburg Honor Badge???

    Hi Everybody!

I'd be most grateful for any opinions on this Nuremburg Badge Of Honor.

Several things about it strike me as a little strange. Firstly I can't find any other example illustrated, that has the same kind of font for the numerals, i.e. in the dates, 1914 / 1919 and 1929. The ones illustrated in Forman are much more stylised. Also the reverse of the badge is completely unmarked, no maker, no Ges. Gesch.

    Thanks in advance,
    Toby.

      Compare it to this one.

You can't really see it too well in this pic, but the reverse reads:

      Hoffstatter
      Bonn
      Ges. Gesch.

        George,

Thanks for posting. There are quite a few differences: the style of writing as well as the numbers; the helmet; the eagle; the buildings at the top - in particular those to the right - on my one there are no windows or further detailing to the buildings.

What conclusions do you draw from mine. Repro? It seems unlikely that it's a manufacturer's variation.

        Thanks,
        Toby.

Toby, I found it in Tiestes book and his piece looks a lot like the one George posted it's also in Angolia's book for (Führer and Fatherland Political and Civil Awards of the Third Reich) it's also exactly like Georges even the maker mark and pin attachment are the same. Personally I would stay clear of this one.

            James,
Thanks for the advice. It seems there's a lot to be said for sticking to textbook examples, especially when in doubt.

            Toby.

Toby, Yes especially with this badge if it was just another day badge that would be different but being it was only for the NSDAP members who were at the rally that were entitled to wear it makes it a much rarer badge

                Check out...

Look at Eric Queen's early NASDAP photo album in the paper and Docs section-it's got a number or germane tidbits . It's well worth a look.
                Cheers,
                JeMc
