    HJ knife question

Hi gang....I have recently acquired a 1936 transitional Hitler Youth knife from a fellow collector. Here's the thing: the tip of the scabbard is painted silver. I'm convinced without a doubt that it's period work....not postwar.
The consensus I have received from other collectors is that it was done within a company of HJ...I would just like to know if anyone else out there has this kind of paint scheme on the tip of their HJ daggers? Does anyone know what this was used for? A specific group ID perhaps within the HJ?

Thanks for any help or info you can send me. Sorry I can't post pictures but if you've seen or heard of this before, you'll know what I mean.

Thanks again for any help you can send my way!!

I had never heard anything about this, and I have a lot of item, books and documents about the HJ, but... everything is possible in this amazing world.
    Best regards from Spain.

Yeah...I agree....I asked other dagger dealers and heard that there was even one that had a period lighting bolt on the scabbard. Probaly someone "personalizing" the dagger...I was hoping it might be something done by a whole HJ troop or company...then I could narrow down where and who this dagger may have been issued.

Anyone else who may have seen this on other daggers please let me know! That would rule out the possibility of just one kid "personalizing" his dagger.

      Thanks again.

You should post this question on the Edged Weapons forum here. There are alot of collectors who might have seen another knife like yours.

I would think that with the large number of HJ groups that customized things like this would not be to unusual. Not a big difference from required gear, just enough to have your group a little different than the next.

        Good luck on your research.
